Bad Bad Shelby!

Recently Shelby has proven that she is growing up. We are able to trust her more and more each day with being in the house unsupervised. I was beginning to think that all the puppy antics were just a memory. She ruined those hopes on Monday night when I was cooking dinner. I had placed 3 rolls on a cookie sheet and sat it on the island. While I was waiting for the oven to preheat, I went into front of the house for maybe 2 minutes. When I returned, two of the rolls were nowhere to be found. Shelby gave herself away when I saw her craning her neck to reach the last roll. Disciplinary actions were taken, but I assumed that she wasn't completely backsliding to her old destructive puppy ways.

Fast forward to last night...Ryan and I met our friend Ryan Stubblefield for one of our famous dinners out. I left Shelby in our bedroom with the door closed for less than three hours. She has been in that situation for that length of time before. Normally, she doesn't move off of our bed. She enjoys the ceiling fan blowing on her fur, watching Animal Planet and just being lazy. Last night, she decided to liven things up a bit. When I returned home from dinner, this is what I found:

I WAS SO MAD! I'm trying to blame it on anxiety from the thunderstorm that came along last night while she was in the bedroom alone. But I'm afraid temptation just got the best of her. Luckily for Shelby, I never was a fan of that comforter (it was the only thing Ryan and I could agree on when we were registering), so perhaps she actually did me a favor!

Are children supposed to be more destructive than dogs??

That is too funny! Not really....but funny the way you wrote about it! We have a chocolate lab also. He took it upon himself to pee all over my walls....so outside he went. He went through 3 water hoses (a nozzle that is connected to the house also), a door mat, and lots of corn stalks courtesy of a farmer.

Oh no!!! I guess you will be needing someone to sew it up:) or is it bad snough for NEW bedspread action. My dog has snuck in the house two times this month and pooped on the carpet...so I feel your pain. Whitney

ARGH! Isn't that frustrating when they tear up stuff??! Kip was at least 2 before we could stop "puppy-proofing" everything. And now at 7, he still cannot be trusted if there's food on the counter! Sorry about your bedspread! ~LA

So... did you get a new bedspread or repair the one you have? If I know you... you sprung for a new one and vowed never to let Shelby in your room alone again. ;) Do we get to see pictures of the new bed covering?
