Sad, sad news

Most of you know that I have been training for the White Rock half marathon since February. Sadly, I am not going to run in the race on Sunday. After lot of tears and pouting, I am willing to admit that this is just not the best time for me to attempt something of that magnitude. Over the last month I have had a stomach bug and a cold, each one lasted nearly a week. I wasn't able to run much during all of that. Then there was the week of Thanksgiving. I actually took my running gear to Shreveport and Monroe, but was able to run only once due to the weather.

The straw that broke the camel's back was last week. I had been dizzy since last Sunday, but Thursday night I had a scary couple of hours. The room began spinning out of control. As I went to get Ryan, I couldn't walk straight and kept running into walls. The next morning we were in the ER at PHP for over 6 hours. (I tried pulling the whole "I work here" routine, but it didn't get me very far). They diagnosed me with vertigo but couldn't determine what was causing it. They checked my blood pressure, blood sugar, electrolytes, ears....everything was OK. They even did a CAT scan and found no issues with my brain (please refrain from any smart comments!). The MD hopes it will go away as quickly as it came.

So after having a rough month health-wise, it seems to be in my best interest to postpone my running dreams. I am very disappointed, but want to make sure I am really ready when I do decide to run. I looked up some races this morning. There are other half marathons in February, April and July. This just means that there is plenty of time for someone to start training and run with me. Any takers?!?!?!?!

Here is a sad picture of me with my first IV access. They didn't even have to give me any fluids since my labs were OK. What a waste!

So sorry! i am sure you were quite dissappointed! I hope you get over this quickly. If you need a running partner, austin's sister lives in plano and is a runner...just ran the san antonio marathon in november and is planning on doing the cowtown half i believe. she also works at luke's locker, so she could get you fixed up right! she might actually be looking for someone to run with, she just moved out there recently and doesn't know many people.

Oh my goodness!!! I'm so sorry! But you look like such a trooper with that IV in your arm. You ARE ready to be a mom if you can handle all that stuff! :) Yes, I'm being pushy... you know I love you!

I found you! What a pretty pup! I bet she and Beans would be great friends.
I'm so sorry about your health issues, and about your marathon dreams! But really glad you shared a pic of your first IV!

I'm so glad you're okay. I hate that you had to go through all of that just to be seen at the hospital. Getting IV's hurts so bad Missy. Take it from me being the experienced one in the family. I hate it every time. It's not something you ever get used to. I don't care what anyone says. Maybe you can start your marathon adventures back up in the spring. I had no idea you did that. You have never mentioned it to me.

I am sorry you haven't been feeling well! I hope you get back to your old self soon.
My friend, Teresa said she came to see you last week with her gestational diabetes. Small world!

Boo! Hiss! That's no fun! And you've worked really hard!
I've been meaning to tell you this story. Once when we were playing football or mud football or something, I saw you running and asked John, "is she a runner?" He snickered (sorry) and said no. You had great form even before you knew you were a runner!
